Greetings,
I hope you have had a good weekend and have been able to enjoy the warm temperatures. October is a fun and busy month. Athletics are in full swing, the drama club is rehearsing for their production in early December, the band and chorus practice for Friday Night games and future performances, clubs are active in planning activities from weekly chess club gatherings to morning meals celebrating our diverse student body to community awareness campaigns regarding social justice, personal wellbeing and the environment. Academics are in full swing as observed by dynamic and engaging classroom discussions and activities.
Parents / guardians are reminded to frequently review their students' PowerSchool for current academic progress and to contact a teacher directly with any questions or concerns. Students are encouraged to continue to make use of FLEX block opportunities to support their coursework.

School Culture / Students
We remind our students of their part in creating and maintaining a safe, healthy and positive school climate. With this in mind we remind our students the following: · Assist in maintaining our building security by not exiting, opening or pegging any external school doors. o Exit and entrance from SHS during school hours is through the main entrance doors only. · Please appropriately discard all of your lunch trash in any of the provided trash barrels. o Special attention to the outside cafe eating area. Thank you for your attention to these simple, but important and impactful expectations. |

The deadline for Prestige sittings is November 15th · Prestige Portraits will come to SHS on Friday, November 12th from 9:00am - 2:40pm o 40 Appointments available o For appointments parents/students should email Mr. Von Sneidern; kvonsneidern@stonehamschools.org o $20 fee § Checks should be payable to Prestige (no cash). § Rrefundable once students return the proofs. |

Senior Privilege
To promote the development of independent life skills of balance of work and self care, planning and organization and prioritization and time management Stoneham High School permits Senior Privilege for eligible Seniors. Senior Privilege has been approved for the Class of 2022 by the School Committee for the 2021-2022 School Year. Privileges include the ability to leave school grounds during lunch and Flex Block. · Students will sign in and out through the QR code system as they currently do for PE Independent Study, Work Study or Internships. · The Senior Privilege option to leave school grounds during FLEX on days 2, 4 and 5 will require that they register in advance on the preceding Day 1. o Teacher requests to meet with a Senior will override a senior privilege sign up. · Minimum requirements for eligibility is passing of all classes, in good behavioral standing and a parent / guardian signed permission form. o Administration holds the right to limit privilege as situations arise. · Senior Privilege will be active starting with the 10/25 Flex Cycle o 1st day of Senior Privilege is Tuesday, 10/26; Day 2 A Senior Class meeting will be held on Friday, 10/22, to review expectations and details with Seniors. Please be on the lookout for Senior Privilege Permission Form which will be available to seniors on 10/22. A big thanks and recognition to the Senior Class Officers of the Class of 2020, who first initiated this request, and the Class Officers of the Class of 2022, who continued the work of presenting the program to the School Committee and receiving their approval. |
