March 13, 2022
Hello,
Today’s temperature may say winter, but daylight savings and longer days say Spring. Bring it on!
The remaining three weeks of March include World Language Week, start of Spring Sports, Grade 10 ELA MCAS, Spring Musical rehearsals and a variety of other fun and exciting activities. This week also includes the Boys Varsity Hockey advancement in the MIAA Division 4 Hockey Tournament to the round of Final Four; Go Spartans!
It is a busy and fun time and certainly many opportunities for all students.
Students should balance their time and make effective use of FLEX to best support their academics. Students should actively engage with their teachers for any needed academic assistance or to complete any missing assignments or assessments during FLEX. Parents and guardians should routinely view their students' Powerschool portal to gauge academic progress.
Have a great week!

School Start Time 8:15am
The past two and a half years has certainly turned schools and typical routines on its head. The focus, rightfully so, was on safety guidelines and how to deliver an optimum learning process. As school begins to return to a more normal functioning one area that requires immediate attention is school start time. Students and households are reminded that the first period begins at 8:15am. Students are expected to be in their classrooms for the start of their first class at 8:15am. Arriving at school / class anytime after 8:15am is considered late and marked as tardy. Students arriving late to class disrupts the learning process for themselves and their classmates. Excessive tardiness, as defined in our Student Handbook will result in disciplinary action. Please plan your morning routines so as to arrive at school that allows you to be in class for 8:15am |

Carnival Ball 2022
Carnival Ball performances will be on April 29th and 30th. The theme of Carnival Ball 2022 is “On the Red Carpet.” Classes will perform skits related to Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, Academy Awards, or any other Hollywood related events. The April 29th show will be held for students only during FLEX block. The April 30th show will be for students, families, friends, and community members; the show will start promptly at 6:30PM. Carnival Ball will be structured differently this year. Classes will compete against each other to see who is the champion of Carnival Ball. Skits will be judged by a teacher panel based on: percentage of students involved, creativity, and execution. In addition to class acts, students can try out to perform (dance, singing, instrumental routines) [and/or] help to introduce acts/performances to the red carpet. Tryouts will take place on March 18th during FLEX in the auditorium. Historically, students involved have “dressed to impress,” students are encouraged to wear “red carpet” attire or whatever they are most comfortable in for it. We want to ensure inclusivity and positivity; this is about the SHS community. |
