Returning to school 8/31/22
I hope you are having a good weekend and winding down the Summer in good fashion. It is exciting to see the first beginnings of the school year with the start of Fall Sports and Spartan Athletes on our fields. It is a welcome site amidst all the ongoing construction. We are also excited to welcome back our students with Class Orientations and Chromebook pickup this week.
The campus continues to change as we prepare for your return and the start of the 2022-2023 school year. At all times remember that despite all the new traffic routes, barriers and fences and fences we are still a school in session on a working construction site. At all times, please follow the explicit traffic routes, signage, and parking designations. Your adherence to this helps maintain a safe and orderly environment for our students, faculty, and members of our school community. All traffic routes posted signage and parking designations are now in effect.

Class Orientations
Grade 9, 10, & 11: Due to the construction project and new powerline installment SHS will have all power turned off on Wednesday, 824. However, we will still hold Grade 9, 10 and 11 Orientations as scheduled. We believe it important for students to start the first day of school prepared with their needed technology, new updates and expectations. We have adjusted activities as needed and will utilize spaces in the building, Gymnasium and Main Lobby, that allow for natural light, a safe meeting space and technology distribution.
The Grade 9, 10 and 11 Class Orientations will be held in the SHS Gymnasium. Any student drivers should park in the white painted parking spots in the new lot. Students drop off and pick is also in the designated area in the new lower lot.
Please arrive on time and be seated in the gymnasium for the start time of your orientation. Students are to access the Gymnasium through the Gymnasium Entrance.
Grade 12: Please arrive on time and be seated in the Auditorium for the 9:00am start time of orientation. Available student parking spaces will be those spaces located between a traffic cone placed at the first available space and a traffic cone placed on the last available space. All the spaces in between the two cones are designated for Senior Parking. Please choose a parking space between the cones you would like as your designated space and one that you will paint / decorate. Lunch will be provided.

If you notice that you are missing any classes (seven courses per Semester in some combination of yearlong and /or half year long courses), courses are out of sequence (Spanish IV before Spanish III for example) or are concerned with course level placement please contact your School Counselor.

Student Parking Update
We are still determining needed spaces for Seniors and how we will utilize / assign the remaining unassigned parking spaces. Until a determination is made only Grade 12 students will be permitted to park on school grounds. We will have a final determination within the next two weeks. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Please make the necessary arrangements for transportation to school as needed. We ask for your patience and flexibility with this situation and any determinations as we work together to best manage the circumstances we are faced in a safe, thoughtful and equitable manner.
