Good evening,
Hoping the three-day weekend treated you well. October is a fun and exciting month of the school year with Fall Sports hitting their stride with mid-season competitions, ongoing weekly club activities and Theater production preparations.
Extracurricular involvement is strongly encouraged for all students as a compliment to their education at Stoneham High School. We recently held a Club Fair for Grade 9 and 1o students to showcase the many club opportunities that are available; There is something for everyone. A list of ongoing clubs is provided below.
With the end of Quarter One a quick four weeks away students are reminded and encouraged to make meaningful use of the FLEX block. Students should consistently check powerschool and communicate with their teachers regarding their progress and utilize FLEX to address any academic concerns and completion of schoolwork.
In order to help promote a positive and safe school culture we will be implementing bathroom occupancy limits for all student bathrooms (Male/Female/Gender Neutral) starting tomorrow, October 11. Though student treatment of the bathrooms with regard to trash and vandalism has noticeably improved, issues of vaping and gathering of large numbers has continued. We have had numerous conversations with students, held class meetings and assemblies and even utilized athletic coaches to communicate bathroom expectations.
We do not believe that this current bathroom behavior is conducive to a positive and safe school culture. Bathrooms should be safe and comfortable spaces for students to access and utilize as intended, therefore, occupancy limits will be posted for each student bathroom, violations of the posted limits will result in disciplinary action.
We ask that parents and caregivers please speak with their students. We thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work together to promote a positive and safe learning environment for all students and members of our community.
