April 30, 2023
Hi,
I hope you are doing well this rainy Sunday as we begin our last full month of the 2023 - 2024 school year. Tomorrow May begins in earnest with the first day of AP testing. There is much to do and accomplish this Month.
The days are, no pun intended, numbered and students should thoughtfully and strategically utilize the remaining FLEX opportunities to best support and manage their academic needs and requirements for a positive and successful conclusion of the school year. The remaining days and weeks will go by quickly with the excitement of Seniors and their pending graduation and the call of Summer days and a well-earned Summer Vacation. This time of year, is best enjoyed by effective time management and planning.
Here’s to a good start of our last full month, make it a strong start and one that continues to support your academic success and participation in our vibrant extracurricular activities.
Best,
Bryan Lombardi

Attention Students / Attendance Review Application / Due Date May 8
Stoneham High School Attendance Review Application · DUE BY MAY 8, 2022 Stoneham High School believes that consistent daily attendance is an integral component of the learning process and for the academic and social growth of all students. We expect our students to be in school every day so as to learn content, develop skills, and establish routines and mindset for success beyond high school. As stated above, daily attendance is expected; however, it is understood that life circumstances do occur that at times may require a school absence/s. With this in mind, Stoneham High School has adopted the DESE ten percent standard for what is considered chronic absenteeism (9 unexcused absences in Semester Course [90 schools days]; 18 unexcused absences in a Year Long Course [180 school days]). A student who has exceeded the minimum attendance standard may apply to the Attendance Review Board for a waiver of absences due to extenuating circumstances. The Attendance Review Board will review waiver requests and provide notification to the student and parent/guardian of the decision. Part of this process may require the student to participate in a meeting with the Attendance Review Board. Students can pick up a waiver request form in the main office. A copy of the waiver can also be found here. The attendance waiver request form must be accompanied by the appropriate/required documentation to support the request and be signed by a parent/guardian. All requests and documentation for an appeal must be submitted to the Attendance Review Board no later than 3:00 p.m. on May 8, 2023. Please reach out to Mrs. Auger, Assistant Principal (Sauger@stonehamschools.org), with any questions. |

Drivers / Parking Lot: Follow Traffic Patterns / 15 MPH or less driving speed
This is a reminder of the expectation for all drivers to follow the designated traffic routes and patterns, regardless of the time of day or how full or empty the parking lot. Drivers are not to cut through the parking lot crossing over parking spaces. Drivers must follow the designated traffic routes. Cutting through the parking lot only causes confusion to other drivers and pedestrians and creates an unsafe environment. Drivers are also reminded that driving speeds on SHS grounds is 15 MPH or less. Let’s all work together to create an efficient and safe driving and parking lot for our school community |
Building Security / School Doors / Entrance and Exit
A reminder that all school external doors are locked and secure for the duration of the school day, 8:15am - 2:50pm. Exit and entrance during the school day is only through the Main Lobby Entrance. All school visitors must enter and exit through the Main Entrance Doors. Students found entering or exiting any exterior school door other than the Main Entrance during school day hours will receive disciplinary action. A secure physical space is an essential component for school safety and security. We all play a role in school safety and compliance of this policy is essential. We thank you for your support. |
